About the Artist

Born in 1989 London, Charles Simmonds is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in painting, drawing, photography & writing. Now based in Berlin the artist channels all aspects of what interests him & what pulls at his soul strings into his work. From ancient philosophy, science, history, astronomy, deep space, the human form, inner & outer interactions, to emotional everything's, flowing poetic prose & humorous observations on the outer & inner worlds. A solitary insanity in the awareness of all things being obscurely painful & beautiful is at the centre of the artists work.

Concept Call-out

“My collection of paintings for this show draws directly from the metaphysical & imagination, being that they are an intuitive fantastical representation of the ethereal, - bold in their playful freeness, but still possessing both emotional depth & structure.

Thus, for this curation I call for firstly ethereal pieces, think absolute beauty, delicate & potentially surreal, different from the status quo, in whatever form, shape or style that may be, I am thinking light, bright, intricate & cosmic!

An abundance or lack of vibrate colour is your choice but I wish to stay away from earthy colours & lean more towards, pastel tones, shinning silvers & golds, - think sunlight, starlight & light that collides with precious gems, but by no means is this to exclude more experimental & innovative materials & methods, weird & wondrous is welcome, but lite & light is preferable over heavy & dark tones & pieces.”
