Interview // TUKOA by Turquoise Maisonneuve

Turquoise Maisonneuve is a French jewellery designer living in Vienna, Austria since 2008. She grew up in a family of artists; her father and grandfather are painters; hence she got very early a sense for aesthetics, colour and shape.

TUKOA is the label of the French jewellery designer Turquoise Maisonneuve. Specialised in individual jewellery, she designed jewellery inspired by the personality, look and style of the future owner. Next to individual jewellery, she is designing collections of unique pieces. Her work is quite eclectic, but some themes can be found through her collections: organic shapes, structure and contrasts.

What is it like be a designer in this current climate?

It’s very challenging because the world is full of talents and the actual society brings us to compare each other a lot (through social media for example). It is a lot of pressure. But at the same time, we have a fabulous work because we can bring people back to real emotions. I create jewellery which lasts and brings joy, not a product of mass consumption.
